"I Can't Believe It's Not Rock"

Daniel Johns & Paul Mac met inside 1997 whenever Paul Mac remixed "Freak" off Silverchair's Freak Show album. Them became friends & Paul Mac worked on the subsequent Silverchair albums Neon Ballroom and Diorama. Them worked on the experimental "I Can't Believe It's Not Rock" EP freed within 2000.

The making of The Dissociatives album

Within mid 2003, Daniel Johns and Paul Mac meeting to create a album recording a basic tracks inside London and finishing it off inside Sydney and Newcastle. A pair produced all a instrumental tracks & vocals themselves by owning Johns writing the lyrics & recording the babies within Newcastle.

A pair described a music & lyrics in the April 2004 Australian edition of Rolling Stone. "The music is, for me, a combination of excitement, happiness, rambunctiousness and vicaciousness, done to whimsy," Johns said. "I'd add with a hint of melancholy, but it's more outweighed by joy," added Mack.
